Chubut stakeholders demand control over Futaleufú hydroelectric concession

Stakeholders in Chubut are calling for greater provincial authority and transparency regarding the upcoming concession of the Futaleufú Hydroelectric Plant. National Deputy José Glinski has warned that decisions made in December could impact the province for decades, urging that negotiations not be conducted behind closed doors. Glinski emphasized the need for participation from municipalities, specialists, producers, and mountain communities to ensure the province's natural resources are protected.

The Chubut Business Federation (FECh) has expressed support for the provincial government's efforts to secure a decisive role in the management of the plant. The FECh argues that the exploitation of strategic resources should prioritize local economic development, infrastructure, and job creation. The federation supports the establishment of a working group between the provincial and national governments to reach a consensus before the next bidding process, aiming for clear rules and long-term planning for the asset.
