Chuchichaschtli wins Listed Tapp-Craig at Rosehill

The filly Chuchichaschtli secured a stakes victory in the Listed Tapp-Craig (1400m) at Rosehill in only her second career start. The $3 favourite won by 1-3/4 lengths over Omolong.

Trainer Michael Hawkes, who had been anticipating the filly’s potential for approximately six months, described her as “pretty special” and noted her significant heart and racing ability. Chuchichaschtli is owned by Captain Gary Lui and George Doyle. The filly’s name, a Swiss-German term for a kitchen cupboard, was suggested by Lui’s wife.

Jockey Tyler Schiller guided the horse to victory, marking his third win in the five renewals of the Tapp-Craig. Hawkes indicated that the filly’s next target may be the Callander-Presnell (1600m) at Randwick in two weeks, pending her recovery.
