Chuck Berry: Remembering the Rock and Roll pioneer

Rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry is remembered for his significant influence on the genre through hits such as ‘Johnny B. Goode’, ‘Roll Over Beethoven’, and ‘Maybellene’. Born on October 18, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, Berry became a foundational figure for subsequent artists including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Jimi Hendrix.

While Berry released numerous groundbreaking singles during the 1950s, his only number-one hit occurred in 1972, a period when the musical landscape had already shifted toward genres like psychedelic and progressive rock. Berry passed away on March 18, 2017, at the age of 90.
