Chuck Kennon dismissed from Florida State football after felony arrest

Florida State University has dismissed freshman cornerback Chuck Kennon from the football program following his arrest on multiple charges. The university cited “conduct detrimental to the team” for the decision.

Kennon, a highly-rated recruit, faces two felony charges—aggravated fleeing to elude and false imprisonment—along with a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence. The charges stem from an incident in Tampa, Florida, where police say Kennon engaged in a high-speed pursuit reaching speeds over 150 mph after being flagged for speeding.

During the incident, Kennon reportedly ran a red light, struck a curb, and fled on foot into an industrial plant after his vehicle stopped due to a flat tire. A woman in the vehicle reported that Kennon drove recklessly and ignored her repeated requests to be let out. Kennon is currently being held at the Falkenburg Road Jail without bail.
