Chuck Lorre faces criticism over memoir remarks about Anna Faris and Jenna Elfman

Television producer Chuck Lorre is facing criticism from colleagues and associates following remarks made in his new memoir, ‘Sitcom’. In the book, Lorre revisited his professional relationships with several actresses, sparking backlash.

Regarding Anna Faris, Lorre claimed that his initial hesitation to cast her in the sitcom ‘Mom’ was justified, suggesting her departure after the seventh season validated his doubts. Sources close to Faris have criticized these comments, arguing that they overlook her seven-year contribution to the show’s success and characterizing the remarks as unnecessary during his book promotion.

Lorre also addressed his past working relationship with Jenna Elfman, star of ‘Dharma & Greg’. He claimed that a potential future collaboration collapsed because Elfman, a Scientologist, refused to work with him after he left the religion. Lorre described being labeled a ‘suppressive person’—a term in Scientology for those who impede the religion—and noted that he reacted angrily to the situation at the time.
