Chung-Ang University Medical Center partners with University of Rochester for integrated care

Chung-Ang University Medical Center has entered into a partnership with the University of Rochester to advance integrated medical and mental health care. The collaboration focuses on joint research and education in areas such as the Medical-Psychiatry Unit (MPU), digital mental health, and addiction treatment.

The University of Rochester Medical Center brings extensive expertise in consultation-liaison psychiatry and operates the ‘Strong Recovery’ addiction treatment center, which utilizes digital systems for recovery support. Chung-Ang University Medical Center, which established South Korea’s first MPU, specializes in digital health and intervention technologies for behavioral addiction and psycho-oncology.

Under the five-year agreement, the two institutions will develop joint educational and research programs, facilitate exchange between medical staff and researchers, and collaborate on international academic publications. A joint symposium titled ‘Bridging Medicine and Psychiatry’ was held to discuss the biopsychosocial model and the practical application of integrated care models to improve treatment efficiency and continuity for patients with both physical and mental health needs.
