Chung Le De: From Asian cinema icon to personal renewal

Chung Le De, an actress of Vietnamese descent known as a sex symbol of Asian cinema, has found personal happiness following a career marked by significant professional success and personal turbulence.

Born in 1970 to a Vietnamese father of Chinese descent and a Vietnamese mother, Chung rose to prominence after winning the 1993 Miss Chinese International pageant organized by TVB. She became a legendary figure through roles in films such as ‘Fight Back to School’ alongside Stephen Chow and ‘The Bodyguard’ with Jet Li.

Her personal life included two marriages that ended in divorce. Her first marriage to a Belgian businessman in 1998 resulted in one daughter before they divorced in 2002. Her second marriage was to Taiwanese musician Jon Yen in 2003; the couple had two daughters before divorcing in February 2011. Now in her late 50s, she is reported to be living a fulfilling life with her current husband.
