Chungbuk Governor Shin Yong-han seeks national budget increases in National Assembly
Chungbuk Governor Shin Yong-han met with Lee Kwang-jae, Chairman of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, to advocate for increased government funding for regional projects. Following an overseas trip to Vietnam, Shin proceeded directly to the National Assembly to ensure key local initiatives are reflected in the upcoming budget deliberations.
Specific funding requests include 3 billion won for the basic design of the Jungbu Expressway expansion (Jeungpyeong to Hopyeong), 10 billion won for construction costs (Seocheongju to Jeungpyeong), 500 million won for a carbon-neutral wood resource recycling hub, and 500 million won for a feasibility study regarding the National Forest Healing Center.
Additionally, Shin addressed concerns regarding the establishment of a future response fund. He requested that regulations maintain the current system of distributing local allocation tax settlements based on excess tax revenue to ensure financial stability and autonomy for local governments. Chungbuk Province aims to secure a total of 10.3125 trillion won in national funds through the assembly process.
