Chungcheongnam-do Governor addresses power lines and traffic
Chungcheongnam-do Governor Park Su-hyeon addressed key regional issues during a press conference marking his first 100 days in office. He identified the construction of power transmission lines across the province as a major burden and a primary source of conflict. To resolve this, Park expressed intentions to collaborate with the central government and other local governments, proposing alternatives such as 100% undergrounding of lines in certain sections to minimize impact on local residents and protected areas.
Additionally, Governor Park inspected traffic congestion on Nambu-daero in Cheonan, one of the province's most congested commuter routes. To alleviate the bottleneck, the provincial government plans a phased approach: short-term improvements to signal systems and left-turn lanes, mid-term road expansions, and long-term development of new arterial roads. The province aims to work with Cheonan officials and national lawmakers to include major bypass projects in national construction plans, with the goal of significantly reducing travel times between key intersections.
