Chungcheongnam-do Governor tours Germany and Italy for investment and AI cooperation
Chungcheongnam-do Governor Park Su-hyeon is conducting an official overseas tour of Germany and Italy from May 22 to 29. The mission focuses on three primary objectives: attracting foreign investment, expanding cooperation with the Vatican for the upcoming World Youth Day, and building a global network to establish Chungnam as a hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In Germany, Governor Park met with the Association of Chungcheong Residents in Germany to express gratitude to the first generation of immigrants. His itinerary includes visiting the headquarters of BASF in Ludwigshafen to discuss industrial cooperation and participating in an investment agreement where a global battery company, referred to as “W,” will establish a new battery pack manufacturing line in the Dangjin Songsan Foreign Investment Zone. This agreement is expected to strengthen the local industrial ecosystem and create jobs.
In Italy, the Governor will visit the Vatican to discuss promoting Chungnam’s Catholic cultural heritage and meet with officials at the UN AI Hub in Rome to discuss international AI policy trends. The trip will conclude with a meeting with the Governor of the Emilia-Romagna region to discuss practical cooperation in industry, economy, culture, and tourism.
