Chungnam Provincial Council explores Carbon Dioxide Removal technologies

The Chungnam Provincial Council’s ‘Chungcheongnam-do Carbon Neutrality 2045 Realization Plan Research Group’ held its second meeting to discuss Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) policies. The group has initiated a research project to examine domestic and international CDR technologies and policy cases to identify suitable tasks for the Chungnam region.

During the session, members reviewed a research plan presented by Kim Jong-beom, a center director at the Chungnam Research Institute, and discussed support measures. The group also visited a local company to inspect biochar manufacturing processes and gather feedback from industrial sites. Representative Kim Yun-seop emphasized that achieving carbon neutrality requires addressing both the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the removal of carbon that has already been emitted.
