Chunta Aragonesista appeals Mezquita-Platea power line authorization

The political party Chunta Aragonesista (CHA) has filed an administrative appeal with the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) regarding the authorization of the Mezquita-Platea 400 kV electrical line.

The appeal challenges the construction authorization granted to Red Eléctrica de España, arguing there are fundamental legal doubts concerning the validity of the project’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). CHA contends that under Law 21/2013, previous environmental declarations lose validity if project execution does not begin within a specified timeframe, which in this case would have been December 12, 2019.

The core of the dispute rests on whether any specific work was officially executed before the 2019 deadline to maintain the EIS's validity. CHA is requesting clarification on what specific actions were taken and when, to ensure the project complies with current environmental regulations.
