Chuo University to increase enrollment capacity for 2027

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has released a list of planned changes to student enrollment capacities for private universities and junior colleges starting in the 2027 academic year.

Among the changes, Chuo University plans to increase its enrollment by 295 students, bringing its total to 6,576. This increase is driven by the restructuring of its Faculty of Economics—which will consolidate four existing departments into two: Economics and Social Economics—and the establishment of a new Faculty of Sports Information with a department for Sports Information.

Conversely, Showa Medical University will reduce its pharmacy department enrollment by 60 students. Other institutions are also adjusting capacities due to departmental reorganizations or reductions in student numbers.
