Church of Greece delegation visits Ecumenical Patriarchate

A multi-member delegation from the Church of Greece conducted a pilgrimage to the Ecumenical Patriarchate from September 9 to 12. The mission, led by Metropolitan Georgios of Kithira, Katyri, and Platamon, included five Metropolitans, university professors, clergy, and religious tourism officials.

The visit commemorated two historical milestones: the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council and the 1400th anniversary of the first chanting of the Akathist Hymn. The itinerary included visits to historical sites in Chalcedon, Princes' Islands, Bursa, and Nicaea, as well as religious monuments such as Hagia Sophia and the Balukli Spring.

During the trip, scientific symposiums were held in Constantinople and Bursa. Metropolitan Georgios presented a lecture on the historical evolution of the Akathist Hymn in Church worship to an audience of clergy, community leaders, and students.
