Churchill Downs reports record third-quarter net income

Churchill Downs Inc. reported record third-quarter net income of $80 million, or $1.14 per share, an increase from $683 million, or 54 cents per share, in the previous year. Revenue for the quarter grew 2% to $696 million, while adjusted earnings rose 1% to $264 million.

In its live and historical-racing segment, adjusted earnings decreased to $111 million from $116 million, though revenue in that segment rose to $315 million from $305 million.

The company also announced plans to relocate its historical racing machine entertainment venue in Henry County, Virginia, following approval of a special use permit. The new facility, located near Martinsville Speedway, is expected to feature 150 machines, simulcast racing, and food and beverage services, replacing the current Rosie’s Game Room in Collinsville.

Additionally, Churchill Downs and the New York Racing Association will expand the Thoroughbred Championship Series in 2027 to include two distinct divisions: the Derby division and the Oaks division.
