Chuwi targets budget laptop market with new Intel-powered devices

Shenzhen-based tech company Chuwi is positioning itself as a budget competitor to premium devices like Apple’s MacBook Neo. The company is leveraging Intel’s Wildcat Lake architecture to produce affordable Windows-based laptops.

One key offering is the UniBook, priced at $449. It features an Intel Core 3 304 processor, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a 1200p 16:10 IPS display. While the device provides a robust selection of ports including USB-C, HDMI, and Ethernet, its 8GB of RAM may face challenges running Windows 11 Pro efficiently.

Chuwi also produces the LapBook Air, a device designed with a full metal chassis and a close-to-zero bezel design intended to mimic the aesthetic of the MacBook Air. The company, which transitioned from MP3 players to laptops and 2-in-1s, continues to target the entry-level market despite past scrutiny regarding component specifications.
