CHVRCHES releases new single ‘Roses’ after three-year hiatus
The Glaswegian synth-pop trio CHVRCHES, consisting of Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty, and Iain Cook, has released a new single titled ‘Roses’. This marks the band’s first new music in three years and follows their longest hiatus between albums.
The track, which premiered as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record, signals a sonic shift toward a more rock-oriented sound. Lyrically, the song serves as social commentary on contemporary Britain, addressing themes such as misogyny and Orwellian concepts. Mayberry stated that the band aimed to push themselves beyond their previous musical territory to create a coherent new vision.
To celebrate their return, the band has announced two intimate charity shows this autumn: one in Glasgow on October 26 and another in London on October 29. Tickets for these performances will be available via a ballot system.
