Cải lương icons Lệ Thủy and Minh Vương join memorial for Thanh Sang

A memorial ceremony was held at the private home of the late renowned cải lương artist Thanh Sang, who died in 2017 at age 74. The event drew a large gathering of friends, family, and fellow performers. Among the most anticipated guests were the celebrated veteran duo NSND Lệ Thủy and NSND Minh Vương, famed as the "ngoại hạng" pair of southern cải lương. Despite being in their eighties, they arrived in good spirits, engaging with the crowd, joking about food portions, and sharing light‑hearted remarks about their age. The ceremony also featured appearances by NSND Phượng Loan, artist Thanh Nguyệt, NSND Hùng Minh and many other notable figures from the cải lương community.

The gathering highlighted the enduring camaraderie and vibrant legacy of Vietnam’s cải lương tradition, honoring Thanh Sang’s contributions alongside the continued presence of its most beloved senior performers.
