CIA whistleblower discusses US intelligence and surveillance secrets

Former CIA whistleblower John Kyriakou has shared insights into the operations of US intelligence agencies, including the CIA, FBI, and NSA, during an appearance on the ‘Diary of a CEO’ podcast with Steven Bartlett.

Kyriakou discussed the vast amount of classified information held by the US government that remains inaccessible to the general public. He highlighted the significant increase in surveillance of American citizens following the events of September 11, noting that billions of dollars are spent on acquiring and analyzing metadata without warrants.

He warned that citizens are increasingly vulnerable through social media usage and excessive regulation, which could allow authorities to target individuals using their metadata. Kyriakou also touched upon various topics, including the number of spies within the US and the implications for those who disclose classified information.
