Ciampino: Three Dutch citizens arrested for attempted extortion

Three Dutch citizens, aged 18, 19, and 32, have been arrested in Ciampino on charges of attempted extortion. The individuals, who were working as movers, allegedly demanded a sum more than double the originally agreed-upon price from a Dutch engineer who had recently relocated to the area.

According to the Carabinieri, the suspects attempted to justify the increased cost by claiming false customs and late fees incurred at the Italian border. The extortion attempt continued even in the presence of military personnel. Following an investigation that confirmed the claims of customs expenses were fraudulent, the suspects were arrested in flagrante delicto. The Velletri Court has validated the arrests, and the trucks used in the operation have been seized by judicial authorities.
