Cianjur, Indonesia bans illegal tourism fees, reaches 61% of PAD goal
The Cianjur Regency government in West Java pledged that all tourist destinations, including the popular Cibodas area, will be free of illegal parking fees after a viral video highlighted the issue. Officials held a meeting with the transportation department, local officials, community leaders and tourism operators, agreeing to strengthen coordination, supervision and training to prevent future incidents and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for domestic and foreign visitors.
The Cianjur Cultural and Tourism Office reported that tourism‑related local revenue (PAD) for the first half of 2026 reached Rp863 million, about 61 % of the Rp1.4 billion target. The Cibodas site contributed the largest share, and the department plans to boost promotion, develop new attractions such as Kampung Pandanwangi and Kampung Adat Miduana, and continue annual events to attract more visitors.
