CIBER funds Crohn's disease lifestyle intervention study

The Biomedical Research Network (CIBER) is funding the ‘Life-Chron’ initiative, a one-year study investigating how healthy lifestyle interventions impact treatment response and quality of life in patients with Crohn's disease. Supported by Boehringer Ingelheim, the multidisciplinary project aims to test the hypothesis that a combination of healthy eating and supervised physical exercise can improve responses to biological treatments.

The research will specifically examine the biological mechanisms involved, focusing on the microbiota-gut-brain axis and its relationship to mental health and patient well-being. The study will compare clinical and biological parameters in Crohn's patients undergoing structured lifestyle interventions against those receiving standard care.
