Ciclovia del Volturno cycle tour promotes sustainable mobility

The FIAB (Federazione Italiana Ambiente e Bicicletta) associations in Campania are organizing a cycle tour along the Ciclovia del Volturno from August 28 to 31. The 144-kilometer route stretches from Rocchetta al Volturno in Molise to Capua in the province of Caserta.

This initiative aims to raise awareness among local administrations regarding the importance of valuing cycling paths, particularly within the framework of the Volturno River Contract. The route, which was mapped and signed without public funding, includes visits to the Abbey of San Vincenzo al Volturno, the ancient village of Vairano, and the National Archaeological Museum of Alife.

The project emphasizes sustainable mobility and eco-tourism. While the Province of Caserta has been actively involved in co-designing the project with local communities, the initiative is currently under review by the Campania Region, which is developing legislation to support cycle tourism and sustainable transport.
