Jharkhand CID arrests suspect in JSSC-CGL exam irregularities case

The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Rajan Kumar in connection with alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination-2023. Kumar, a resident of Patna, Bihar, is accused of taking aspirants to a hotel in Niyamatpur, West Bengal, to memorize exam questions and answers before the test.

This arrest brings the total number of individuals apprehended by the state probe agency to 11 since August 18. Previous arrests include key accused Abhay Tiwari, his wife and brother, and four successful candidates. The investigation is targeting an organized syndicate involved in the paper leak and recruitment fraud.

As part of the ongoing probe, the CID has questioned more than 250 successful candidates regarding the selection process and their involvement. The agency is preparing a preliminary report for the state government. While the Jharkhand government previously moved to cancel several recruitment tests following student protests, the Jharkhand High Court has placed a stay on the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL-2023 exam due to pleas from successful candidates fearing job loss.
