Cidra Mayor seeks to block LUMA Energy service disconnection

The Mayor of Cidra, Delvis Pagán Clavijo, has requested the Energy Bureau to halt potential service disconnections by LUMA Energy. The dispute involves a contested balance of $319,216, which LUMA claims is due to municipal consumption exceeding the maximum tax contribution limit for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

LUMA reportedly informed the municipality that it had until September 14 to pay the full amount, enter a payment plan with a 25% down payment, or file an objection accompanied by a 50% payment. The municipal administration is seeking clarification on the regulatory basis for these deadlines and has requested documentation, including final invoices and monthly reports, to ensure all procedural requirements were met before any suspension of essential services occurs.
