CIE-USA/GNYC Annual Meeting focuses on AI innovation

The Greater New York chapter of the Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE-USA/GNYC) held its 2026 annual meeting in Flushing, New York. The event, themed ‘Digital New Deal in the AI Era: The Fifth Industrial Revolution and Disruptive Innovation’, brought together approximately 240 professionals from the technology, academic, and business sectors.

The conference featured three primary forums: AI’s impact on education and the future of work, AI’s role in biomedical and life sciences innovation, and AI governance, trust, and the future of the financial industry. Keynote speakers from institutions including Google, OpenAI, Columbia University, and IBM addressed topics ranging from large language model optimization to quantum computing and 6G communication technology.

In addition to the forums, an ‘Innovation Demo Day’ showcased 14 projects involving AI robotics, medical diagnostics, and cybersecurity. The event also highlighted the historical role of the CIE in fostering technological exchange between the United States and Taiwan, noting its long-standing influence on the development of Taiwan’s high-tech industry.
