Ciena Corp. shares fall following quarterly earnings report

Ciena Corp. shares experienced a decline following the release of its third-quarter fiscal 2026 financial results. Despite a 37 percent year-over-year revenue increase to $1.671 billion, the growth rate fell short of the 40 percent increase seen in the previous quarter. The company's optical networking segment remained a primary driver, growing by 46 percent.

While the company reported a non-GAAP profit of $307.674 million, its revenue guidance for the fourth quarter—projected at approximately $1.75 billion—was viewed as insufficient by the market, leading to a drop in stock price.

Citi has maintained a buy rating on the stock, with analyst Atif Malik setting a price target of $658 per share, representing a potential upside of 107 percent. Malik noted that demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure and data center interconnection (DCI) should serve as significant growth drivers for the company's optical transport leadership.
