CIES Football Observatory ranks top global talent developers

The CIES Football Observatory has released its annual ranking of the world's best football talent-producing clubs, based on players currently competing in 49 major leagues. The index evaluates clubs using criteria such as the number of players trained, competitive level, minutes played, and player age.

Benfica of Portugal leads the global ranking with a score of 101.3, driven by 93 trained players. Argentine clubs dominated the top tier, with River Plate securing second place (97.6), Boca Juniors third (96.7), and Vélez Sarsfield fourth (92.0). These positions place Argentine institutions ahead of established academies like Ajax, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

Other notable mentions include Independiente del Valle of Ecuador, which ranked 23rd globally with an index of 55.6 and 52 trained players. In Uruguay, Defensor Sporting appeared in the top ten at eighth place, while Peñarol and Danubio also featured in the broader rankings.
