Cieszyn commemorates National Council anniversary and awards Agata Romaniuk
The city of Cieszyn held ceremonies at the Adam Mickiewicz Theatre to commemorate the 108th anniversary of the establishment of the National Council of the Duchy of Cieszyn. This historical event, dating back to October 19, 1918, marked a significant step for Polish activists in transitioning administration from Austrian authorities and seeking the region's integration into the emerging Polish state.
As part of the celebrations, Agata Romaniuk was awarded the Cieszyn City Prize for artistic creativity, dissemination, and the protection of culture. Romaniuk is the author of the popular children's book series ‘Kocia Szajka’, which features adventures set within the streets of Cieszyn. The ceremony concluded with a performance titled ‘Wajda, Kilar, Śląsk’ by the Śląsk Song and Dance Ensemble.
