CIF-SS high school playoffs begin for volleyball and flag football

The CIF Southern Section postseason has commenced for several high school fall sports in Southern California. Local girls volleyball and flag football playoff brackets are scheduled to begin play this week.

In girls volleyball, participating teams include Santa Barbara High, Dos Pueblos, Bishop Diego, Laguna Blanca, and Carpinteria High. In flag football, Dos Pueblos, San Marcos, and Santa Barbara High are set to compete. Santa Barbara High's flag football program is entering its first-ever CIF-SS postseason.

Regarding the Division 1 football playoffs, the size of the field is determined by competitive equity rankings. Projections suggest the Division 1 field may consist of eight or nine teams, a decision that impacts subsequent divisions and at-large postseason opportunities. Playoff pairings are expected to be released on November 1.
