Écija City Council seeks €150,000 for active tourism
The Écija City Council has formally requested €150,642.34 in financial aid from the Seville Provincial Council to boost local tourism. The request is part of the ‘Sevilla Turística’ plan, which utilizes a competitive bidding process to fund projects promoting sustainability and outdoor activities.
Local government spokesperson Carlos Onetti noted that the success of the application depends on the Provincial Council's evaluation of the submitted projects. Urban Planning Councilor Ángel Peña explained that while the funding is specifically targeted toward ‘green tourism’ and ‘active tourism,’ Écija’s tourism profile is traditionally centered on cultural heritage. Despite this distinction, the municipality has submitted the proposal to secure potential investment opportunities.
