Cilento authorities arrest five for car thefts and violent robbery

Authorities in the Cilento region of Italy have carried out five arrests following two separate investigations into predatory crimes. The operations, ordered by the Vallo della Lucania Prosecutor's Office, targeted a specialized car theft ring and a violent robbery.

The first investigation, conducted by Carabinieri units from Vallo della Lucania, Agropoli, and Sapri, dismantled a group responsible for stealing four vehicles parked on public roads between September and October. The suspects, traced to Angri, face various precautionary measures including house arrest with electronic monitoring.

The second investigation addressed a violent robbery that occurred in Palinuro on August 3. Two individuals, aged 18 and 21, along with a minor, are accused of intercepting a 20-year-old victim in a car and forcibly taking two gold necklaces valued between 3,000 and 5,000 euros. During the incident, the victim was dragged and thrown onto the asphalt while attempting to recover his belongings.
