Cilento National Park reports positive summer despite environmental challenges
The Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni National Park has reported a positive summer season despite various challenges. Giuseppe Coccorullo, President of the Park, noted that while the summer season supports the local economy and family businesses, issues such as waste abandonment and irregular sub-leasing persist.
Coccorullo emphasized that environmental degradation and lack of civic responsibility are year-round issues rather than being solely caused by tourists. He called for increased coordination between local authorities and law enforcement to ensure security, decorum, and transparency through controlled monitoring along the coast and in inland areas. The park aims to demonstrate that high tourist flows can coexist with environmental protection through careful planning and synergy between administrations and local operators.
