CIMA distributes over 400,000 shellfish seeds in Galicia

The Galicia Marine Research Center (CIMA), under the regional Ministry of the Sea, has completed its planned distribution of shellfish seed for August to support the recovery and regeneration of local shellfish banks.

In total, CIMA distributed 404,700 units of bivalve seed and 3,000 sea urchin units throughout the month. Recent deliveries included 15,000 units of snail clam to the A Coruña guild, 82,700 Japanese clams to Vilaxoán, and 81,000 flat oysters to A Illa de Arousa.

Earlier distributions this month included 123,000 Japanese clams to Barallobre and 103,000 flat oysters to Arcade. These efforts aim to replenish the Galician coastline and restore productive activity within the rías by reinforcing various species populations.
