Cimex sells Cuban-made paint for US dollars in Matanzas

In Matanzas, Cuba, the Cimex Corporation—a company linked to the military conglomerate Gaesa—is selling domestically manufactured paint for prices ranging from 20 to 50 US dollars per bucket. The store, known as La Casa del Pintor, accepts payments in cash US dollars and via transfers.

Despite the availability of various colors, the high cost has resulted in very few customers. Local workers have noted that the prices are prohibitive for the average citizen; one employee stated that purchasing the cheapest option would require the equivalent of four salaries. This economic barrier contrasts with the visible state of the city, where many buildings suffer from peeling facades and humidity due to a lack of maintenance.
