Cimic to join 500 million AUD Australian fiber optic project

Cimic, the Australian subsidiary of ACS, has been selected by digital infrastructure provider Vocus to participate in the Australian Digital Infrastructure Platform. The project is valued at 500 million Australian dollars (approximately 308 million euros).

Through its subsidiary UGL, Cimic will manage the initial works starting in August. The project focuses on developing the first fiber optic route between Sydney and Melbourne, encompassing design, engineering, field validation, project management, and cost estimation.

The initiative aims to strengthen digital infrastructure to meet the rising demands of artificial intelligence, hyperscale data centers, and cloud services. This infrastructure is intended to support high-capacity submarine, intercapital, and metropolitan fiber networks across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
