CiMUS leads European network to study gene splicing for disease therapies
The CiMUS center at the University of Santiago de Compostela is leading DECODES (Deciphering the Splicing Code in Human Disease), a new European research network focused on the role of splicing in human diseases. The project aims to advance tools for diagnosis and treatment by studying how alternative splicing contributes to conditions such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and metabolic or rare genetic disorders.
Scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027, the four-year initiative has a budget of 4.5 million euros. The network will integrate universities, research centers, and companies across nine European countries and includes a training program for 15 predoctoral researchers.
