Cincinnati Bengals defensive shifts and roster projections

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has confirmed that cornerback Dax Hill will primarily play as an outside corner this season. After transitioning through various roles, including safety and slot cornerback, Hill is expected to stabilize the boundary defense. While Taylor noted that players may still move inside for coverage reasons, Hill’s primary role will be on the outside.

Following the team's first preseason game, roster projections suggest potential changes to the defensive unit. Despite a strong training camp performance by defensive end Cedric Johnson, analysts suggest he may not make the final 53-man roster if rookie Landon Robinson continues to perform well, as the team may seek to avoid exposing Robinson to waivers. Other projected roster members include Dexter Lawrence II, Jonathan Allen, and Myles Murphy.
