Cincinnati Open faces weather delays and player withdrawals
The 2026 Cincinnati Open faced an early setback as inclement weather forced the cancellation of all 33 scheduled qualifying matches on Wednesday, August 12. Main draw play is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 13, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
The tournament is seeing a significant number of high-profile withdrawals. On the men’s side, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Alexander Bublik have all withdrawn. Naomi Osaka also pulled out citing fatigue. Frances Tiafoe’s participation remains uncertain following minor hand surgery.
On the women’s side, Karolina Muchova has withdrawn, and Belinda Bencic’s status is unclear following a hip injury. Despite these absences, the women's field remains competitive with players such as Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, and Coco Gauff set to compete.
