Cincinnati Reds make roster moves with Jorge promotion and Ashcraft activation
The Cincinnati Reds are making several roster adjustments to address injuries and depth. The club has promoted Carlos Jorge from AAA Louisville to the major league roster. Jorge, an elite defender in center field with significant speed, has been hitting .313 over his last 20 games in the minors.
To facilitate Jorge’s promotion, Ivan Johnson was optioned to AAA, and Michael Toglia was moved to the 60-day injured list due to a dislocated shoulder. Additionally, the Reds are expected to activate right-hander Graham Ashcraft from the 60-day injured list. Ashcraft is returning from a right forearm UCL sprain that has sidelined him for over three months. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Ashcraft, the team may move Spencer Steer to the 60-day injured list following a right wrist injury.
