Cindy Blackman Santana releases jazz-fusion album ‘Coherence’

Drummer Cindy Blackman Santana has released her twelfth album as a leader, titled ‘Coherence’. The project, released via Mack Avenue Music Group, serves as a tribute to the jazz-rock and fusion styles of artists such as Miles Davis, Weather Report, and Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Blackman Santana returns to the electric sound found in her previous tribute albums to Tony Williams. She is accompanied by a core group including saxophonist Emilio Modeste, guitarist Aurélien Budynek, keyboardist Zaccai Curtis, and bassist Felix Pastorius.

The album features guest appearances by her husband, guitarist Carlos Santana, who performs on six tracks, including ‘Guitar Love’ alongside John McLaughlin. The release is available in digital and CD formats containing 17 tracks, as well as an 11-track LP version.
