Paramount Skydance streaming chief Cindy Holland exits ahead of WBD merger
Cindy Holland, Chair of Direct-to-Consumer at Paramount Skydance, has stepped down from her position effective immediately. Her departure occurs as the company nears the completion of its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
In an internal memo, Holland stated that her exit is intended to allow CEO David Ellison to optimize for HBO stability as the companies enter their next phase. Holland noted she had achieved her primary objectives, which included advising on the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, transforming Paramount+ and Pluto TV, and building a strong industry team.
Following Holland's exit, Casey Bloys, the Chairman and CEO of HBO, is expected to lead the combined streaming operations for both Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery. This leadership shift aims to consolidate services like Paramount+ and HBO Max into a unified streaming powerhouse.
Under Holland's tenure, Paramount+ saw significant growth, reaching 81 million global subscribers in the second quarter and achieving record engagement and retention rates. David Ellison praised her impact, describing her as a “force of nature” who strengthened the company's content and sports portfolios.
