CineBH celebrates 20 years of Latin American cinema in Belo Horizonte

The 20th edition of CineBH, an international film festival in Belo Horizonte, concluded its six-day program held between September 22 and 27. The event focused on the theme ‘Latin American Cinema: what will it be?’ and drew over 18,000 participants through in-person and online activities. The festival generated 2.9 million social media views and attracted over 80,000 website visits from more than 60 countries.

The programming featured 102 films from 13 countries, including competitive showcases such as ‘Horizonte e Território’ and the regional ‘A Cidade em Movimento’ exhibition. The festival also included 48 commented sessions and an international seminar with 20 debates regarding the creation and circulation of Latin American cinema.

This edition honored Paraguayan filmmaker Paz Encina and writer/actress Conceição Evaristo. Featured works included the Chilean documentary ‘Si Vas para Chile’, which explores migration and human rights, and Brazilian films such as ‘Pequenas Tragédias’ and ‘Leite em Pó’.
