CineFantasy festival debuts in São Paulo with tribute to Liz Marins
The 17th edition of CineFantasy, an international fantastic cinema festival, begins in São Paulo and runs until September 6. This year's event features 70 films from 24 countries and territories, covering genres such as horror, science fiction, animation, and fantasy.
The festival includes a special tribute to Liz Marins, who created the character Liz Vamp 25 years ago. Marins is recognized for her work in the fantastic cinema genre, following in the footsteps of her father, José Mojica Marins, known as Zé do Caixão.
To improve accessibility and address transportation challenges in São Paulo, the festival has expanded its locations. Screenings will take place at the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS), Cine Olido, the Cidade Tiradentes Training Center, and 26 Unified Education Centers (CEUs). Films will also be available on the streaming platforms DarkFlix+ and SpCine Play. The event includes competitive categories for best film, direction, acting, and screenplay, with awards presented at the closing ceremony.
