Autumn community and cultural events scheduled across the Netherlands and Belgium
Various community and cultural events are scheduled across the Netherlands and Belgium for the autumn season. In Barendrecht, Theater het Kruispunt will host the Cinekid Festival on October 21, featuring films such as ‘Kabam 2’ and ‘Extraordinary’, alongside workshops in dance, science, and radio.
Environmental themes are prominent in several initiatives. In Aalst, Belgium, Francine De Veylder used dance to teach children about planetary care. In the Netherlands, the ‘Nacht van de Nacht’ (Night of the Night) will take place on October 24, with events in Rouveen and Zwolle focusing on the importance of darkness for nature and human health. Additionally, residents in Groningen are organizing an autumn cleanup of the Noorderplantsoen park.
Seasonal festivities also include Halloween-themed events, such as a ‘Haunted Hospital’ experience in a private residence and a ‘Screamnight’ at DanceWorks in Velsen. In the Veluwe region, Museum Hagedoorns Plaatse will host a spooky children's afternoon featuring folklore and crafts.
