Cinema addressing Israeli-Palestinian conflict gains international spotlight

New cinematic works addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are set to gain international attention. Nadav Lapid has introduced his new film, ‘YES’, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The film serves as a political satire exploring Israeli society following the events of October 7, focusing on the relationship between art, power, and social responsibility through the lens of an artist tasked with composing a new national anthem.

Additionally, the documentary ‘NAZA’ will compete for the Golden Lion at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor—co-directors of the Oscar-winning ‘No Other Land’—the film examines the systems behind civilian casualties in Gaza. The title ‘NAZA’ is an Israeli military acronym used by intelligence services to denote expected civilian fatalities during airstrikes. The production is supported by The Guardian and executive producer Jonathan Glazer.
