Cinema Arlecchino in Bologna secured by I Wonder Pictures and Pop Up Cinema
The historic Cinema Arlecchino in Bologna has been saved following an auction won by a group comprising I Wonder Pictures, All At Once, and Pop Up Cinema. The acquisition is supported by a loan of approximately 800,000 to 900,000 euros from Banca di Bologna, structured over ten years.
Plans for the 450-to-460-seat venue include significant technological and structural upgrades. By 2027, the cinema is expected to feature 4K laser projection, improved audio systems, and renovated bar areas. The facility will continue to host major cultural events, including the Il Cinema Ritrovato and Biografilm festivals.
While the Arlecchino project moves forward, the restoration of the Fulgor Cinematografo in via Montegrappa remains stalled. Andrea Romeo, founder of I Wonder Pictures, has called for a collaborative meeting with municipal authorities and property owners to address the delays at the Fulgor site.
