2026 Box Office sees massive surge led by Spider-Man and Toy Story

The 2026 film industry is experiencing a significant box office surge, with several major titles joining the billion-dollar club. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' has emerged as a massive leader, earning over $1.2 billion globally and setting a record for the biggest domestic opening weekend in history with $360 million, surpassing 'Avengers: Endgame'.

Other major contributors to this successful year include Pixar’s 'Toy Story 5', which has surpassed $1 billion, and 'The Odyssey'. Walt Disney Studios has become the second studio this year to cross the $4 billion mark globally, following Universal. Disney’s performance has been bolstered by 'The Devil Wears Prada 2', which earned nearly $692 million, and the original animated feature 'Hoppers'.

While major franchises continue to dominate, there is also notable success for original content. A24’s 'The Drama' has earned over $132 million worldwide, signaling a diverse appetite for both established intellectual property and new stories among audiences.
