Cinema highlights feature international ensembles and Balkan pop stars

Various discussions and retrospectives highlight the intersection of music and cinema within the Balkan region and international film circles.

In the Balkan film industry, prominent singers have transitioned into acting roles. Svetlana Ceca Ražnatović appeared in the film ‘Nečista krv’, a role that reportedly faced challenges regarding its acceptance by certain figures due to its artistic content. Lepa Brena starred in the classic Yugoslav film ‘Hajde da se volimo’, which achieved significant success in cinemas and video clubs. Additionally, Dragana Mirković appeared in ‘Slatko od snova’, performing alongside established actors like Bata Živojinović.

On an international level, film enthusiasts have identified movies with exceptionally well-cast ensembles. Notable mentions include the Coen brothers’ ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ (2000), featuring George Clooney, John Turturro, and John Goodman, as well as the Western ‘Tombstone’ (1993), starring Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer.
