Cinema updates: Cult film screening and new thriller reviews

The DKF Offeliada festival is hosting a special screening of the 1987 science-fiction and horror film ‘Klątwa doliny węży’ (Curse of the Snake Valley) by Marek Piestrak. The event, scheduled for October 15 at the Municipal Cultural Center, will include a discussion with film expert Michał Oleszczyk regarding the film’s cult status and its reputation as a ‘so bad it’s good’ production.

In international film news, early reviews for the upcoming thriller ‘Upadek wieloryba’ (The Whale's Fall) have generated significant buzz following its first overseas screenings. The film follows a young man, played by Austin Abrams, who is swallowed by a sperm whale while diving off the coast of California. Critics have praised the film’s claustrophobic tension and Abrams’ performance, describing the experience as an intense and dark cinematic rollercoaster.
